My Blogging Journey- Second Anniversary Post
I know it will sound stupid, but yes I can’t believe it! This week marks the second anniversary of my blogging Journey and I feel super excited. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and It feels great to say that this has been a great blogging year – both personally and professionally.
So today I am with you sharing some #BehindTheScenes of #MakingofMyBlog. I also have an exciting linky party for you all, so read on for the details.
So, this is how it all started
It was like any other hot and humid afternoon of June, 2 years back. The time of the year when all Mumbaikars’ are eagerly waiting for one thing, the rains. After days and months of torture by Mr Sun, rains were something I was looking forward to, too. It looked so much better today; the colour of the sky was a lot different. Well, later I realised this was all due to the power nap I could manage. Thanks to my #LittleTuggu who has co-operated to his best that day.
My hopes were high, and all eyes were on the sky!
I wished it would rain, but the weather kept playing games.
The spell of the first rain of the season is always so exhilarating. It always takes me back in childhood with some loving memories, making paper boats, jumping in the puddles, running around playing fun games. The girl in me still wants to play and jump in rain, but now I have a child lying beside me. I still want to that girl free from all the responsibilities and just enjoy the first shower of the season. But the girl in me was a new mom, a first-time mom. Someone who was too tired all the time, from frequent feeding, burping, cleaning, I had no time for it all.
How the journey started with Social Media
Wait, did I tell you my son was going to be 6 months old in a day. One of the many major milestones in the life of a Mom. Yes, I can now get some time off while he may sleep a little longer, or probably full night. I may get some rest and no more regular breastfeeding sessions, as I could feed him solids now. As soon as the thought cropped up in my mind, I had my phone in my hand. And just like any new-age millennial mom, the very next second, I had my phone in my hand. I was looking for some ideas on ‘which solids to introduce first’ and then the how’s and the when’s. Soon, Pinterest took me to ideas on celebrating 6-month baby birthday ideas.
After studying artificial intelligence for a project in my corporate world, I just loved how the related suggestions kept on pouring. It felt like it was meant for sleep and idea deprived Mom like me.
I finalise the cake recipe, I was planning to bake, to realize I was short of too many ingredients. Even the basic vanilla essence and the all-purpose flour. So, I tried a mixed recipe and baked a Butterscotch Dry fruit Suji cake instead and it came out well. I shared some pictures on my Instagram account and soon I was flooded with replies to share the recipe. Well, that’s how I started my Instagram page a little over 2 years ago today.
I had a Facebook (private) page too, where I would upload some pictures and add a small write-up for the day. It was months later in my blogging journey, I realised it was called a micro-blogging. So, yes my Blogging journey started way back, but the official public post came out on June 20, 2017.
How my blogging journey actually started- My first Blog
A month before that I was travelling to my Parents in Delhi. And that was one of my longest trips, all alone. I was all excited about how smartly I had packed for a month-long ‘experience’ at my Mom’s. I have always been good at packing, even my hospital bag was packed well before the time with all the essentials. But travelling with an infant is a different experience altogether.
All during the time at the Airport, Tuggu was easy and sleeping with everyone around me to here along up small. But and just as expected our MUM-DEL flight was delayed. We were made to wait in our flight for over an hour.
Peeking out from my flight window I was enjoying the rain and enjoying the coffee in peace. While so many thoughts were rambling my mind, I was wondering and how come everyone seems to have a young kid in their hand today. It is strange to see people in similar situations around. While I was pregnant, I would find almost all pregnant ladies around, even at a most unexpected place. And now I would see all young parents around.
But anyways, one thing I noticed that everyone has some good numbers of bags along. It was during that time, I realised I should have my blog too. Just like all mommies on Pinterest. Again the next second, I had my phone in my hand and I googled on how to start a blog and wrote my first blog. It was the first draft which I typed while sitting in my flight. Later I edited to make little better and it is now called- Travelling with an Infant.
So, now I have one more reason to cherish my love for Monsoons. It is indeed a special time for me, after all, it’s my second Baby’s Birthday – My Blog’s Birthday!!
